Many Dragon’s Dogma fans have requested a sequel for the 2012 game, and Capcom is finally getting into it 10 years later. The Japanese gaming giant began working on Dragon’s Dogma 2, as was confirmed by game director Hideaki Itsuno, according to Polygon.

The 10th anniversary of the first Dragon’s Dogma game was celebrated with the release of a new trailer just a few days ago. That game was an RPG hack and slash creation that brought a huge open world to the player’s disposal. Can Capcom do even better than that? Well, it should!

Capcom will use its RE Engine

The RE Engine is the technology that Capcom will be relying on to develop the next game in the Dragon’s Dogma series. If the moniker doesn’t tell you anything, you’d better keep in mind that we’re talking about the same technology that’s powering the Street Fighter 6 game that will come out in 2023. That game just got an official announce trailer on June 3, so you can take a peek there to give yourself an idea of how good the RE Engine technology is. We can tell you that it has indeed done a good job, at least considering what we can see in the video.

Even the official Twitter account of the Dragon’s Dogma series confirms the sequel’s arrival:

At this point, we don’t have any other information about the next Dragon’s Dogma game. Perhaps more details will arrive in the upcoming months or even weeks, but don’t be deceived into thinking that the new game will land too soon!

But surely we are already free to speculate! What do you think the upcoming game brings new? Do you think that Capcom will improve the gameplay a lot or add more characters? Feel free to comment!
