These days, we only see sequels, remasters, or remakes; we don’t really see new stuff. But it seems that one of the most popular companies out there wants to put a stop to this. Activision has canceled Modern Warfare 2: Multiplayer Remastered.

Well, to be fair, they didn’t really officially announce it, but in 2020, we got Modern Warfare 2: Campaign Remastered out of the blue. PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players were happy to get this goodie, and it came with exclusive content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and Warzone. Players could go back and forth into the classic story.

But everyone wondered why there was no multiplayer added, as well? Was it Activision that didn’t want to separate the player base from the latest titles? Unfortunately, we really don’t know.

But we do know that one leaker is making a fuss on the internet with the news that Modern Warfare 2: Multiplayer Remastered was canceled.

Industry insider Tom Henderson first stated that we wouldn’t get the game in 2021, but he didn’t say that it was canceled.

The leaker, RalphsValve, didn’t say much about the reason why it was canceled, but it could be because Modern Warfare 2 is set to be released in 2022. Maybe they don’t want to mix things up.

Call of Duty: Warzone was an incredible success, and we’ve learned that Modern Warfare 2 might come with a new map.

There is another way to look at this situation: what if the remastered multiplayer was never actually in the works? We will never know what actually happened.

One thing is certain, no matter what Activision decides, we’re getting ready for the next projects.
