The mid-range king has two eager successors. The Redmi Note 11 Pro and 5G provide some upgrades, but is it worth the upgrade from the Note 10 Pro? We’ll compare hardware first.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10 Pro smashed records in 2021. First mid-range smartphone with 120 Hz AMOLED display and 108 MP camera. A year later, the Redmi Note 11 Pro has a 5G SoC variant.

Performance

Xiaomi rectified a flaw in its predecessor. Xiaomi’s Note 11 Pro uses the Snapdragon 695 chipset, a new mid-range SoC that will be reviewed later.

6-nanometer production and 2.2 GHz clock speeds appear good. Xiaomi partners the CPU with 6 or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Redmi 11 LTE has a MediaTek Helio G96, which is similar to its predecessor’s Snapdragon 732 G. Later, MediaTek introduced a SoC using a 12 nm manufacturing technology. The high-performance cores clock slower than the other six. It’s intriguing to see which smartphone will perform best.

5G exists, although Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5 stay the same. The Chinese maker is one of handful to keep an IR blaster and NFC chip.

Display

The display hasn’t changed. As previously, the 6.67-inch AMOLED screen has a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution and 120 Hertz refresh rate. Average brightness raised to 700 nits, and bezels decreased. The Note 11 Pro is 163.7 x 76.2 x 8.3 mm, whereas its forerunner was 164 x 86.5 x 8.3 mm.
The new model weighs 207 grams and has a redesigned back. Xiaomi eventually chose a matte back, which first seems like metal. Xiaomi still uses plastic, or polycarbonate. The Pro model keeps the stereo speakers, fingerprint sensor, and 3.5 mm connector.

Camera

The successor’s cameras doesn’t impress us much . Without upgrades, nobody needs depth sensors. Xiaomi took off the depth camera on the Redmi Note 11 Pro (5G), leaving the 108 MP primary camera with f/1.9, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, and 2 MP telephoto camera. The camera’s lack of new features means you don’t need to update if photos are your main focus. The specs sheet disappoints those expecting advances. More complex software processing may improve image quality.
