Dust is a pesky little thing that can infiltrate every nook and cranny of our lives, especially when it comes to our beloved smartphones. It may seem small, but dust can cause major damage to your phone, leaving it feeling powerless and crippled.

Imagine being at the beach, soaking up some sun and scrolling through your Instagram feed, when all of a sudden, a gust of wind blows a cloud of sand in your direction. Your phone is now covered in a layer of fine, grainy sand that has infiltrated every crevice of your device. No matter how much you try to wipe it off, the sand stubbornly sticks to your phone’s screen, buttons, and ports.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 could be dust-resistant

Samsung is reportedly planning to release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable phones with a waterdrop-shaped hinge, which could make them dust-resistant and improve the visibility of the foldable screen’s crease, according to SamMobile. Samsung is aiming to bring an IP67 rating to its next-generation foldable phones, making them the first foldable phones with dust resistance.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are expected to be released in August or September of 2023 and will feature similar-sized Super AMOLED foldable screens with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both devices will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come with an upgraded 12MP primary camera.

The previous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, released in August 2022, is a premium foldable smartphone that boasts impressive specs. It features a large 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1812 x 2176 pixels, allowing users to switch between a phone and tablet form factor. With the new dust-resistant hinge, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will provide users with even more peace of mind when it comes to protecting their device from pesky dust and debris.
