Apple introduced the iPhone 14 lineup back in September, and one of its most important features is clearly the emergency SOS via satellite. After it originally became available in the US and Canada, more countries will now get the life-saving feature as well.

Apple made the announcement that many Europeans had been waiting for: the emergency SOS satellite feature is now rolling out to four other countries, all from the old continent: France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK. This means that if you have such a device and you get stuck in an area where there’s no cellular or WiFi coverage, you can still connect to the emergency services.

Assuming you’ve bought one of Apple’s new iPhone 14 models, we have great news for you if you want to benefit from the life-saving feature in question. You must know that the function will do its thing at no charge during the first two years. The only condition is for you to live in either one of the aforementioned countries and to have a standard iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro in your pocket.

Apple’s announcement is crystal clear:

Apple’s groundbreaking safety service Emergency SOS via satellite is available starting today for customers in France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK. Available on all iPhone 14 models, the innovative technology enables users to message with emergency services while outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage. Additionally, if users want to reassure friends and family of their whereabouts while traveling in an area with no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, they can now open the Find My app and share their location via satellite.

Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite feature of the new iPhone 14 is meant to reach the emergency services when the user cannot do it by himself. If he has been through a car accident (God forbid!), for instance, the iPhone 14 is developed enough to understand that and reach the emergency services by itself.
