A decade or two ago, it seemed impossible that gaming on the phone would ever become more successful than the one for consoles or PC. Slowly but surely, tech comes to prove us wrong.
Activision is responsible for top gaming titles such as many of the Call of Duty series. TweakTown now reveals that a new report indicates that mobile gaming generated Activision 51 percent of its total revenue for the second quarter of the current year. In other words, Activision made more money due to its smartphone gaming area compared to gaming for consoles or PC over the mentioned period of time.
In fact, the dominance of mobile gaming in the case of Activision is even more crushing than expected. Make sure to sit tight on your chair so you won’t fall off because of what you’re about to read!
Activision’s mobile gaming generated more income than console and PC gaming combined
That’s right; the time is here when mobile gaming becomes vastly superior to those for PC and consoles! Who would have thought? The statistic of mobile gaming surpassing console and PC gaming combined is also available for the second quarter of 2022. The most successful of Activision’s games seem to have been Diablo Immortal, Call of Duty Mobile, and Candy Crush Saga.
Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision, said in the report, as TweakTown quotes:
In addition, we expect to continue to deliver ongoing content for various of our franchises. We will also continue to invest in opportunities that we believe have the potential to drive our growth over the long-term, including continuing to build on our advertising initiatives and investments in mobile titles.
If we take a look at Call of Duty Mobile’s page from the Google Play Store, we find out that the game has been downloaded over 100 million times.
