With the Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime running and the Dragon Ball Super manga still pumping out new chapters, many would be tempted to believe that the writer behind the legendary series will finally start sitting on the fence. But no, that’s not the case, as Akira Toriyama has often proven to be very diligent when it comes to Dragon Ball.

The ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ movie that came out more than two weeks ago is just starting to settle its glorious place at the box office when we have yet another piece of information about what Toriyama will be doing next.

New Dragon Ball projects are coming

Thanks to producer Akio Iyoku, we now find out that Akira Toriyama is already preparing for new projects regarding the legendary Dragon Ball franchise, according to comicbook.com. Iyoku made the claim during a special interview held for the V-Jump magazine of Shueisha, where he said very clear, as the publication mentioned earlier quotes:

Well, if you’re asking, a new entry on the series is already in the making! Super Hero took us five years to make, so it’s only natural we’re already working on what comes next!

He also added:

Toriyama-sensei himself is always working on new Dragon Ball concepts and ideas, after all. We’re all thinking about what we want to show the world next.

There’s no other information at this point regarding what exactly those projects will be, but we are free to speculate.

Perhaps the most logical answer, for at least one of the possible projects, is that the Dragon Ball Super anime will finally make its comeback for a second season after it ended back in March 2018 after reaching 131 episodes. All Dragon Ball fans are expecting it, and if it indeed comes, it will most likely set the story after the conclusion of the Tournament of Power arc and of the plots from both movies released in 2018 and 2022: Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, respectively. This means that Goten, the second son of Goku, will be a teenager in the new entry.

The other most reasonable possible project is another featured film like Super Hero. But it’s impossible to predict at this point what its plot will be like. What’s for sure is that the Dragon Ball franchise keeps offering a lot of possible continuations, and perhaps we’ll see more of the Multiverse that was present in Dragon Ball Super.
