Everyone is still amazed by the news that Activision Blizzard was bought by Microsoft. Of course, there is still some time that needs to pass until the deal is finalized in 2023, but there are still a lot of questions to be asked. One of them is what this means for the PlayStation community.

The CEO of Microsoft, Phil Spencer, has confirmed that they want to make Activision Blizzard games available for PlayStation, while they also make content for Xbox. So will Sony need to do something about this acquisition, or should we just…move on?

Is PlayStation in danger?

When Microsoft bought ZeniMax Media back in 2021 for $7.5 billion, Sony announced they had bought Fabrik Games and Bluepoint Games. So this makes us question whether Sony also has plans to buy other developers, too.

Microsoft stated they don’t want to stop making games for the PlayStation players, so has Sony any reason to worry? A representative from Microsoft said: “Activision Blizzard games exist on a variety of platforms today, and we plan to continue supporting those communities moving forward. The acquisition is about increasing the availability of Activision Blizzard content across more platforms, including mobile”.

Of course, more and more titles will be added to the Xbox Game Pass service. But rumor has it, PlayStation wants to create their own Game Pass service, which will probably be announced sooner than expected.

Let’s not overthink stuff. We will see some changes, but the bigger one would be Activision Blizzard titles on the Xbox Game Pass, and Call of Duty ending the deal with PlayStation. But don’t worry just yet, this will only mean that PlayStation will not have its one-year exclusivity on titles.
