At the tail end of 2022, Corning introduced the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which offers enhanced protection against shattering even when placed on harder surfaces such as concrete. The manufacturer has now stated that Samsung will be the first brand to adopt next-generation glass, and it is anticipated to be used in the next Galaxy S23.

Corning claims that the GG Victus 2 has been engineered to provide more protection against damage caused by unintentional drops compared to the generation it replaces. Despite the fact that smartphones are growing bigger and heavier, Corning claims that the Victus 2 can survive a drop of one meter into concrete pavement and a plunge of even greater height onto asphalt from a height of two meters. In addition to this, it was said that the glass used on the spacecraft has the same degree of scratch resistance as the Victus+ coating seen on the Galaxy S22.

Corning has not specified the name of the smartphone that will make its debut using the new material since it is not yet known that the Galaxy S23 will be released. It is also speculated that the Galaxy S23 range will be the first to use the GG Victus 2, which is scheduled to make its official debut on February 1st during the Unpacked in-person event that will be hosted by the South Korean company in San Francisco.

Concerning the Galaxy S23, the next handset could come with a glass design called a “sandwich.” Particularly, the front and rear sides of the phone will both be covered by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is the same way that Samsung used to shield the front and back parts of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21.

In addition to the glasses, it is anticipated that Samsung will outfit the flagship trio with its proprietary Armor metal frame; however, it is unknown at this time whether or not there will be upgrades made to this component. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 may be equipped with IP68 water and dust resistance, and both normal variants are said to emulate the streamlined outer design of the Ultra model.
