Apple’s iOS 16 added a few new capabilities to iOS devices. An previous report suggested that there might be fewer major updates in iOS 17. New details about Apple’s future operating system, expected to launch with the iPhone 15, lend credence to this speculation.

Updates on iOS 17 and Apple’s focus on its XR or Reality platform are being reported by howtoisolve. There may be a connection between this and the continued existence of software issues in iOS 16.3.

According to the publication, “Dawn” is the internal codename for iOS 17. Furthermore, reports suggest that the company is putting more effort on making the next major OS reliable and efficient than adding cosmetic enhancements to iOS 16. A new specialized augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) software to enable the first rumored ‘Reality Pro’ headgear was listed among the future additions.

Apple is also considering updates to its own first-party applications including Apple Music, Mail, Find My, and the Home app. There may also be some tweaks to Apple’s Fitness, Wallet, as well as Apple Pay Later features.

A faster chip might be on the way for the iPhone 15 Ultra. Perhaps more crucially, the website reveals evidence that Apple is collaborating with Dynamic Island on six different iPhone models. This includes not just the four iPhone 15 models, but also the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max from the previous year (review). At the same time, it confirmed what everyone already knows: that all of the iPhone 15 models would have a USB-C connection. Apple may possibly introduce a larger Pro model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra), this year. The source claims that the largest, most expensive iPhone will include improved picture processing, a faster A17 CPU, and an enhanced cooling system.
