While 2023 is just around the corner, it will certainly be quite an interesting year for the gaming industry. Some resounding titles are on their way for various platforms, and we’ve made a short list of some of the most important games.
Looking also back at 2022, we can immediately realize that it wasn’t a bad year for video games. A brand new Pokemon game known as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Bandai Namco’s RPG known as Elden Ring, Sony’s God of War Ragnarök, the new and annual FIFA game known as FIFA 23, as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge are all on the list.
So, what’s in store for 2023? Let’s find out:
Diablo IV
If slashing demons is what you do for a living, you should definitely be interested in what Diablo IV has to offer. Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, this game is set to release in early June 2023.
Diablo IV will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/Series S, and Windows PC.
Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy is one of the oldest game series out there. The first Final Fantasy title came out in 1987, which means 35 years ago. In 2023, it’s time for Final Fantasy XVI to shine. Square Enix will be both the developer and publisher responsible for it, while PlayStation 5 will be the only platform where the game will run.
Street Fighter 6
The legendary Street Fighter series will be back in business in 2023 with a brand new title. Chun-Li, Luke, and the rest of the gang will be ready for action once again. There will certainly be new move sets, techniques, and lots of impressive and high graphics gameplay elements.
Capcom is working on both the publishing and developing part for the Street Fighter 6 game. There’s no precise release date exposed, but we know that the game is coming out next year. The compatible platforms will be PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/Series S, Arcade game, and Windows PC.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The iconic Zelda series will also have a major addition in 2023, and it has a release date at some point in May. Known as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the upcoming title will be an exclusive game for Nintendo Switch, and it’s also the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Nintendo will be both the publisher and developer behind the upcoming game.
EA SPORTS FC 24
EA SPORTS FC 24 will be the successor of FIFA 23. Although there will be no more FIFA games, the legacy will continue. We can expect for EA SPORTS to keep releasing a brand new football simulation game every year, just as it did with the FIFA series. Apart from the new squads, the updated roster, or some new kits and possibly even stadiums, we can also expect some new gameplay elements introduced in EA SPORTS FC 24. The devs will hopefully take some inspiration from the FIFA World Cup that’s currently being held in Qatar.
EA SPORTS FC 24 is also expected to become available for both PC and the usual consoles: PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Minecraft Legends
Minecraft has become synonymous with gaming, and a brand new game of the series is also coming out in 2023. Developer Mojang Studios is collaborating with publisher Blackbird Interactive to make the game functional. As you’ve probably already guessed, the upcoming Minecraft game will deviate a bit from the classic recipe that was used before, but the outcome will probably be enjoyed by most of the fans.
Minecraft Legends will be available for a multitude of platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/Series S.
Starfield
Would anybody ever say no to a game involving aliens? Probably not. That’s why you should take Starfield into account as well when we’re talking about the most exciting games coming out next year! Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, Starfield is coming out in 2023 for Xbox Series X/Series S and Windows PC. There’s no precise release date revealed, but you know what they say that good things come to those who wait!
Dead Island 2
Dead Island 2 is coming out in April 2023, and it shall be available for a multitude of platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia, and Windows PC.
Just as you’ve probably already guessed, Dead Island 2 is all about dealing with zombies. The protagonist will have to use his ammo and guns, as well as every dirty trick in the book, to get rid of those pesky zombies. The last thing you can expect is for them to go easy on you, which means that you must choose your weapons carefully. As you wander around the map looking for your next targets, surely you’ll encounter numerous landscapes that look as if they were taken directly from GTA 5.
Dambuster Studios is developing Dead Island 2, while Deep Silver is publishing it.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
War is certainly no fairytale world with sugar, spice, and everything nice. That’s depicted pretty well in the upcoming STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, a first-person shooter survival horror game developed by GSC Game World, which is a Ukrainian developer.
Apart from the game releasing in 2023, there’s no word out yet regarding a more precise release date. The compatible platforms will be Xbox Series X/Series S consoles as well as Windows PCs.
No, there’s no sign yet of GTA 6 coming out in 2023, but who knows, maybe Rockstar will grant us all a pleasant surprise.
