As Warner tries to figure out what they want to accomplish with the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), it seems like nothing is safe at this point in time. It has been claimed that the studio is in the process of formulating a new ten-year strategy, which will include somewhat of a fresh start for its many superhero-themed projects.
Since of all of this, fans of “The Batman” have been concerned about the possibility of a sequel, particularly because the original movie had hints for further content. It would seem that your concerns are unwarranted, since it appears like WB is getting ready to produce more of Reeves’ Batverse.
During a Twitter Spaces conversation between Fandango’s Erik Davis and The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, the two provided an interesting update on a sequel to the Batman movie that was released earlier this year.
Davis wondered, “Is [Robert] Pattinson the person [to continue to be the DC’s Batman]?” after discussing the cancellation of Batgirl and the broader restructuring of Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC strategy. despite the fact that filmmaker Matt Reeves has said that he wants to “do a trilogy.”
Davis: Is [Robert] Pattinson the guy [to continue to be the DC’s Batman]? That was an old regime move too, that first Batman movie. Really good, I loved it. A little divisive for some people, maybe not as accessible for some people. I know [Matt] Reeves wants to do a trilogy. We talked to Pattinson, he wants to do a trilogy. He wants to do a whole arc as Bruce Wayne. Do you think that they stay the course?
Gonzalez: Of course. Why wouldn’t they? The first movie was a success, so I’m pretty sure that they’re going to let Reeves do his trilogy. That Batman in that universe will continue going forward.
