Watching your favorite movies and TV shows on Netflix isn’t free, but it can become likewise if you have good friends. In other words, somebody can give you his or her password to a Netflix account if the person wants so. Therefore, the person will practically pay for both of you.

The team in charge of Netflix knows very well that such a phenomenon happens. Everybody knows. And obviously, it’s not in Netflix’s best interest for such a thing to happen. If you find a way to watch Netflix’s content without paying, even if it’s legal, why would you EVER pay for that content in the future? Furthermore, you could even influence others to follow suit. Just like any other business, Netflix needs people who pay, not who bypass payment.

If you share your password outside your household, Netflix will be there to charge you extra

The news of Netflix’ drastic measure to overcome those willing to avoid payment is brought by the streaming service’s website itself. And regardless of how much many of us might not like the move, we all have to admit that Netflix acts in a very normal and logical way. They shouldn’t be blamed at all for doing this!
Netflix motivates its decision in a pretty reasonable way, writing:

We’ve always made it easy for people who live together to share their Netflix account, with features like separate profiles and multiple streams in our Standard and Premium plans. While these have been hugely popular, they have also created some confusion about when and how Netflix can be shared. As a result, accounts are being shared between households – impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members.

Otherwise, a basic Netflix subscription costs 7.99 euros per month.
