Some people say that the Netflix mobile app works in mysterious ways. They might be right, as you could remain a little surprised yourself after reading this article. According to 9to5Mac, the iOS app for Netflix is now rolling out an update that makes users redirect to the streaming service’s webpage to complete a new subscription.

The move is not new in the tech world at all, however, and it even seems to be a more convenient approach if you ask us. The Netflix app is making the new move possible by taking advantage of the new iOS API for reader apps. Once the user arrives at the webpage, he’ll have to complete a few simple steps in order to get his hands on the subscription, such as choosing a payment method, entering personal data, and choosing a subscription plan.

As soon as the user hits the subscribe button, the Netflix app will display the following message, according to the same publication mentioned above:

You’re about to leave the app and go to an external website. You will no longer be transacting with Apple.

Netflix will also confirm that any accounts or purchases that will be made outside of the app itself will still be managed by the developer “Netflix.” In other words, there seems to be no reason to worry!

The same message continues as follows, as 9to5Mac also quotes:

Your App Store account, stored payment methods, and related features, such as subscription management and refund requests, will not be available. Apple is not responsible for the privacy or security of transactions made with this developer.

iOS users can grab the Netflix app from Apple’s App Store. Although the app of the streaming service is free to download, you can certainly expect plenty of in-app purchases!
