Production For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Has Officially Ended

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has officially ended production, according to James Gunn. Several years ago, Marvel Studios stated that a third Guardians of the Galaxy film was in the works, but owing to the sacking and rehiring of writer/director James Gunn, the production was severely delayed. Before returning to Marvel in 2021, Gunn worked on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker for DC Comics, which he called “the conclusion of the present incarnation of Guardians.”

Late 2021, the primary cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 returned to Atlanta for shooting, paving the way for the production of the third installment. Gunn has stated on Twitter that shooting on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has come to an end, more than six months after it began. Filming for the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which was shot at the same time as the movie, is also included here. To commemorate the conclusion of the trilogy, director James Gunn posted a picture on Instagram.

Long hiatus

Filming on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has been a long time coming for both the movie and Gunn. During the promotion for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he first announced the threequel’s existence in 2017. When Disney dismissed Gunn over prior improper comments, he and the actors were supposed to begin production in 2019 for a May 2020 release date. This film was his first time working with the same cast and crew in over five years, so it seemed like a long time coming.

Because of the film’s 2023 launch date, the six-year break between the Guardians of the Galaxy sequels has left moviegoers ravenous for more.  Although Gunn has hinted that some of the trilogy’s core characters may die, fans are preparing themselves for an emotional climax. Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are still mostly in the dark about what director James Gunn has in store for them. However, we are optimistic that the wait will be worthwhile. For the time being, it’s unclear whether this represents the end of Gunn’s involvement with the MCU.
