HBO’s The Last of Us is currently looking for the actor who will play Sam, which means that the development can start way earlier than expected. It seems that HBO wants to go hard or go home, and we cannot wait to see what they’ve prepared for us.
As of now, there is no official trailer, but there is a lot of sneak peeks and behind the scenes facts. HBO’s casting call for Sam could give us an idea about where they’re standing with the development.
We know that there will be some clear differences between the game and HBO’s project. The tear of the Outbreak Day has changed from 2013 to 2003, which means that the show will be placed in 2023, and not in 2033.
But if we are to take a look at the general timeline of the project, and the fact that HBO is still looking for someone to cast for Sam, we can understand that the development is still in its early stage. This means that the show won’t be released until 2023.
As you know, in the game, Joel and Ellie first meet Sam and his brother, Henry, quite early, after Tess became infected. We are wondering how much of the action will HBO cover, because we know there is plenty of material to use.
Even if the show started filming last summer, the production is still in development, so a release date for this year was never really in the plan. As of now, they are looking to cast someone for Sam, and they could be filming right now the adventures of Joel, Tess, and Ellie in Boston.
We are waiting to see if the TV studio will show us a sneak peek ahead of time, as they sometimes do.
Neil Druckmann is the show’s executive producer, and one of the writers and directors, and we believe he’ll do a great job.
