Your Spotify app may crash for a number of causes, the most common of which being issues with your network connection or with Spotify’s servers on the back end. See whether this is a server-side issue by doing a search on the Spotify community. However, this time it’s not just you: Spotify is now experiencing a widespread service disruption that is impacting a lot of its customers in different parts of the globe. Posts made on social media indicate that the outage started just after 10 a.m. Pacific Time and is still active at this time. The downtime has not been recognized by Spotify, nor has the company provided any indication as to when the service would be restored.
Many users are unable to access Spotify. The Spotify service is now experiencing an outage that looks to be broad but is not impacting all users. Around ten in the morning, Pacific Time, there was a surge in the number of reports that Downdetector received regarding issues with Spotify. Users have reported that they are unable to launch the application and that they are unable to stream any material, including music, audiobooks, and podcasts.
Users of Spotify have reported that the desktop version of the application displays an error message titled “firewall,” whilst the mobile application displays an error message titled “gateway.”
It’s important to note that this is the second time in the last two weeks that Spotify has had an outage. On January 13, the service was down for more than two hours for a large number of customers, but Spotify has never provided an official explanation for what occurred. Spotify has acknowledged that something is wrong, but they have said that they are looking into the matter. They expressed gratitude to users for providing the reports.
