Meta continues to bring updates for WhatsApp that are worthy of some attention, and we’re eagerly waiting to see how the public will react. After the announcements of improving the voice messages, increasing the group member limit, and others, the world’s most popular instant messaging app is now allowing users to transfer their data, including messages and files, from Android devices to iPhones in a secure way.
Previously, users could only do it the other way around, meaning to transfer their WhatsApp data from iPhones to Android phones. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself made the announcement of implementing the possibility to transfer WhatsApp data from Android to iPhones, so there’s no reason to believe that the information is a hoax.
The new feature is rolling out in the beta form
Let’s admit it: most of us change our smartphones very often. Therefore, WhatsApp’s new feature can only delight the majority of us.
Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook the following:
We’re adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a top requested feature. We launched the ability to switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now adding Android–>iPhone as well.
But there’s a little catch in the entire equation. If you want the transfer to be successful, the two devices need to be running on at least Android 5 and iOS 15.5.
If everything is ok, you’ll need to grab the ‘Move to iOS’ app for Android. Start setting up the iPhone, and hit the ‘Move data from Android’ option. After that, simply follow a few easy steps. After the setup, open WhatsApp, sign in, and that’s all!
Are you happy about Meta’s new feature for WhatsApp?
