Rumors persist regarding a possible The Last of Us remake, even if it hasn’t been officially revealed. There have been rumors about the game’s release date and whether or not a multiplayer Factions mode would be included. It’s impossible to know for sure whether or not the remake is happening, but if it does, there are a few things to think about.
Also keep in mind that because this is a remake and not another remaster, as The Last of Us had previously received when it was ported from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, sequences may be altered to present events from new angles. Naughty Dog might develop a remake for a variety of reasons, one of which is to give The Last of Us’ overarching story a fresh coat of paint.
Joel’s death
The assassination of Jerry Anderson will be a major but unavoidable alteration in the upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us. To rewrite the canon, Jerry is plainly apparent as the surgeon who the players are compelled to murder in order to collect Ellie in The Last of Us 2’s flashbacks. The character that would be Jerry in The Last of Us 2 looks nothing like the guy in The Last of Us.
When the original game was being developed, Naughty Dog probably didn’t realize that this surgeon’s death would be as dramatic and impactful as it was. Despite being unjustified, the killing of Joel Miller is still causing controversy surrounding The Last of Us 2. Fans were naturally angry when the character of Joel was abruptly slain by a new face in the series, whom they could not yet identify with. In time, players acquire Abby’s viewpoint, and her desire to murder Joel is as sane and logical as any of the choices Joel had to make in the original game.
It’ll be intriguing to watch how The Last of Us 2’s characters are portrayed in light of their respective outcomes and choices. Joel might be shown as a vicious killer by Naughty Dog, who could display scenes from his past when Joel and Tommy tortured bandits.
