It’s not a secret to anyone that there are numerous photos on social apps that had been edited before being uploaded. Surely you know that moment very well when you meet a person face to face after seeing their photos, and you have the feeling that you’re speaking to a different person. Although it’s such a common practice to edit photos, we all have to admit that it’s not ethical.
Some folks seem to have been thinking seriously about these aspects, which is why they came up with a new app that encourages its users to be as real as possible. It’s called BeReal, and it’s growing fast in popularity, according to CNN. The number of monthly active users has grown in 2022 by over 300%. That’s indeed surprising, considering the limitations that the app tries to impose.
Find it on Google Play
There are no options to like, follow, or filter. There are no ads, either. As the company says: “Just your friends, for real.”
You can already find the BeReal app in the Google Play Store, and the description summarizes it pretty well:
BeReal is the first Uncontrollable social media to share an authentic moments in Photo.
Everyday at a random time, everyone has to capture a Photo in 2 minutes.
Capture and post in time to discover what your Friends are up to.
As the developers behind the BeReal app playfully say: ‘ It’s your chance to show your friends who you really are, for once.’
What do you think? Would you be willing to give the new app a chance? Do you consider it useful? Can you live a life without edited photos? Would such a lifestyle be miserable for you? Feel free to tell us in a comment below!
