As Konami changes the official trademark for Silent Hill, speculation that the game may be revived by the company continues to grow.
Silent Hills was planned to be the ninth installment in the hugely successful Silent Hill franchise, featuring Norman Reedus scheduled to appear as the game’s main protagonist. However, the game was canceled before it could be released. As part of his collaboration with Metal Gear Solid, creator Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, a director, and screenwriter, was also involved in the production.
Unfortunately, the game was canceled back in 2015, a year after the demo was made available on the PlayStation Store for download. In an official statement, Konami stated that they are “dedicated to future Silent Hill titles,” but that the production of the Silent Hills film starring Norman Reedus will not be continued.
Hideo Kojima’s decision to quit working with Konami shortly after the announcement is due to Death Stranding. He joined forces with Del Toro and Norman Reedus for a new project that we are all familiar with.
Are we waiting in vain?
A Reddit user has noticed that Konami Digital Entertainment has modified the trademark for the Silent Hill franchise, as well as a number of other trademarks.
We’d like to emphasize that the existence of this trademark does not imply that a new game or a revival is in the works. However, it demonstrates that Konami hasn’t completely forgotten about the series.
Things get even more fascinating if we are to talk about a report from VGC from October 2021. It seems that Konami plans to bring back Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill.
