Overwatch 2’s release date has been delayed by Blizzard. Overwatch’s expected successor, announced three years ago, has promised significant improvements to PvP, such as smaller team sizes, as well as a new PvE mode. This is all we know so far.
Blizzard announced the closed beta in a recent update with game director Aaron Keller, confirming: “We are changing our release strategy by decoupling Overwatch 2’s PvP and PvE experiences from one another to get new PvP content into your hands sooner, while we continue to work on PvE.”
So, if you want to test PvE, you’ll have to wait. Because it’s a closed PvP beta, though, this doesn’t ensure that everyone who applies will be accepted.
So when is the release date?
We don’t really have a clear release date for Overwatch 2’s beta. We learned that it’d go live in April, in a few chosen locations, but we don’t know which ones. Players will obtain access in phases after signing up at PlayOverwatch.com.
Blizzard has stated that this is simply the first beta, so there will be more as time goes on.
Closed Beta for Overwatch 2 PvP – Platforms
