Riot has recently published a development update for the game that they announced back in 2019. The game is called Project L, and it comes with League of Legends characters. They have talked about the vertical slice for the game, and we have written this article to tell you everything you need to know about it.
What is a vertical slice?
A vertical slice is a high-value montage that shows the game in the most simplest way. So the investors that do not know much about the game will get to know it in a nutshell and then will give money to developers. This vertical slice is not exactly playable, and it’s just to show what the game is about.
The executive produce for Project L stated that we should not think that the game is done yet because they still have a long way to go. The team who worked on Rising Thunder is now working on this one.
So when is the release date?
The earliest estimate is 2023. We are waiting for new information, and we will probably hear more in the second half of 2022. The game will use a tag-team system. This means that you will be able to call in your partner for a combo or simply switch to them. It’s something like Marvel vs. Capcom 2. We are very excited about that.
By looking at the vertical slice, we can see that Project L has many typical mechanics that are usually found in 2D Japanese fighting games. We have the guard, the jump, and the dashes.
Valorant and League of Legends will be useful when Project L uses their expertise. Riot seems to do a great job, and we cannot wait to hear more.
