It’s been seven years, and it is finally here! EA has announced that the next generation of The Sims franchise is happening.
Everyone loves The Sims 4, but truth be told, we want The Sims 5. The next game will be developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The details we have on the game are only rumors so far, but we wouldn’t mind for the multiplayer component to happen. It actually may be one of the reasons why The Sims 5 is going to be connected to the public even more.
So do we have a precise release date?
We don’t have an official release date, but if we are to take a look at the current status, it might take a while to see the next game. Back in January 2020, we first learned about the next generation of The Sims being in its pre-production phase. We might see the game in 2022. They first get released for PC and then for PS5 and Xbox.
The Sims 3 was released in 2009, The Sims 4 was released in 2014, and ever since then, we’ve been waiting for the next game to make its appearance. We don’t have a trailer, not even a teaser, so we still have to wait a bit for that one.
Any new gameplays in The Sims 5?
As of now, we don’t know exactly, but we do know that there will be more social interaction and competition. It could feature both single and multiplayer components. Developers also want to add some elements from The Sims Online, as well.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated: “As Maxis continues to think about The Sims for a new generation – across platforms in a cloud-enabled world – you should imagine that, while we will always stay true to our inspiration, escape, creation, and self-improvement motivations, that this notion of social interactions and competition – like the kind of things that were actually present in The Sims Online many, many years ago – that they will start to become part of the ongoing Sims experience in the years to come.”
