Neil Marsh Promotions have formally announced the bout which Liverpool’s super-lightweight contender Robbie Davies Jr has been waiting for since July last year. Robbie Davies Jr will finally rematch Michal Syrowatka, who handed Davies Jr his first career defeat to date with a 12th round knockout on July 15th last year. Syrowatka turned the tables on Davies Jr after a competitive display with many pundits believing Davies Jr up in the contest, especially if you consider that Davies Jr had knocked down the Pole Syrowatka in the 9th round. Syrowatka with victory at the SSE Arena, London also claimed the WBA Continental Super-Lightweight title in the process.
The rematch will take place in Davies Jr’s hometown of Liverpool to be held at the auditorium within the Echo Arena located in the city.
In the official press release for the contest published by Neil Marsh Promotions via WBN, it is stated that the rematch between Davies Jr & Syrowatka was contractually obligated within the bout agreement of the pairs maiden contest last year. There have been multiple delays on behalf of the Pole due to injury and personal issues which didn’t allow the rematch to take place towards to end of 2017, however, all issues on Syrowatka’s behalf have passed and the contest has been signed sealed and delivered for all parties.
Speaking via the official press release, Robbie Davies Jr was delighted and confident in the fact the rematch has finally been agreed and given the opportunity to right the only blemish on his professional record.
“It’s taken a while to happen but I’m delighted everything is sorted now –thanks to my manager Neil Marsh for that – and I can’t wait to get back in the ring.
“He was a decent kid (Syrowatka) but I wasn’t at my best in the first fight and I won’t be making the same mistakes again. I know I’m better than him in every department; speed, power, skill, everything. And people will see this on 31 March. I aim to take back the [WBA continental] belt in style and then move on up through the rankings to bigger things later in the year.”
The event which is a co-promotion with Kieren Farrell promotions will feature a number of fighters on the undercard which include Mason Cartwright, Brian Phillips, Danny Craven, Lee Boyce and Courtney Chadwick.
