Peter Fury the uncle of lineal world heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury, has confirmed that he will not be training Tyson upon his return to the sport. Tyson is currently training with up and coming trainer Ben Davison in the Hatton Boxing Gym in Manchester. Peter had been instrumental in Tyson Fury’s success in achieving British, Commonwealth, Irish, European and World title honours in 2015 with defeat of then unified and lineal heavyweight titleholder Wladimir Klitschko.
Peter spoke to the Boxnation Podcast and confirmed that he will not be working with Tyson and will just be concentrating on working with son Hughie and a few young fighters who he handles.
“He’s doing his own thing, so best of luck to him, I’m just going to concentrate with young fighters – my son, and one or two others I’ve got around me.”
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s my nephew, I got him to win the world title…happiest times of our life. Whatever he does in the future I wish him all the best.”
“For me, there will never be a moment like Dusseldorf. I’m just working towards the same experience again with Hughie.”
Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring this year as soon as he is approved for a licence by the British Boxing Board of Control, with Frank Warren set to apply and negotiate with the board on the behalf of Tyson Fury.
