Carl Greaves Promotions has formally announced his opening promotion for 2018 scheduled for the 2nd of March and to take place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium in Leicester. The show titled “Girl Power” is headlined by former female amateur champion Nina Bradley of who Carl Greaves handles in a promotional, managerial and training capacity. Bradley formerly of Boston now based in Nottinghamshire will face fellow Midlander Lauren Johnson of Wolverhampton, with the pairing contesting the maiden Midlands female welterweight title sanctioned by the BBBofC. Johnson is handled by Errol Johnson of BCB Boxing. The Midlands area title bout is scheduled for 10×2 minute rounds.
The headline contest see’s two unbeaten fighters put their 0’s on the line (Nina Bradley 3-0, Lauren Johnson 3-0) as the pair contest the first female BBBofC title, demonstrating that the landscape of female boxing within the UK is changing in a much more positive light allowing female boxers to pursue opportunities within the professional game domestically.
30-year-old Nina turned professional in May of 2017 and has had three fights against foreign opposition against Monika Antonik, Klaudia Vigh and Borislava Goranova. Bradley’s third contests coming against Goranova saw her pick up an international challenge strap in Sheffield via points verdict at the Hilton Hotel, Sheffield.
Johnson who is slightly older at 32, is a former amateur talent herself like Bradley, winning national and Midland titles in the amateur code of the sport. Coached by Paul Mann Johnson turned professional in March of 2017 and has also faced Monika Antonik and Borislava Goranova winning both contests via points.
The card features the return of Louis Norman, who recently signed up with Carl Greaves and his promotional outfit to handle the next chapter of his career will feature as he plots his rightful return to domestic title contention. Louis will also be campaigning now at Bantamweight after previously competing at flyweight and super-flyweight.
The card will feature some of the Midland’s brightest talents featuring on the bill of which include the popular CJ Challenger of Leicester. The 23-year-old Super-Welterweight like friend and training mate Lyon Woodstock is one of the brightest talents to come of the city in recent years, holding an unbeaten record of six wins with two wins coming inside the distance.
The card also features Kyle Haywood, Sheldon Purdy, Joe Ducker, Shane De Hayes, Connor Ireson, Josh Quailey and Joshua Cherry all feature to feature on the ten-fight bill.
