Marlon Tapales shocks Pungluang Singyu to claim world title crown

Today in Ayutthaya,Thailand the WBO world bantamweight title was on the line in what was supposed to be a regular defence for Pungluang Singyu against Pilipino Marlon Tapales.
The fight was extremely entertaining with lots of heart shown from both men and the fight could have been all over when Singyu knocked down Tapales twice in the fifth round of the fight and could have been all over but Tapales would not roll over. The sixth round was the changing point of the fight with Tapales showing Singyu can be hurt with a knockdown of his own with a hook on top of the head. Tapales fought with come forward pressure from the opening bell and was more than happy to let his hands go with hooks and uppercuts in comparison to the Thai fighter who‘s main source of attack is straight right hands for the duration of this fight.

The fight was over in the 11th round when tapales knockout the champion with a left hand to become the new WBO world bantamweight champion. Taples joins Nonito Donaire, Donnie Nietes and Johnriel Casimero as current world champions from the Philippines.
