Renown American Promoter Lou DiBella has revealed that he has added former WBA & IBF super-lightweight world titleholder Julius Indongo to his promotional stable. The length of the deal is undisclosed other than a “Long-term” agreement between DiBella and Indongo.

The Namibian Indongo (22-1) shot to prominence with his stunning first-round knockout victory over then IBF titleholder Eduard Troyanovsky in Russia on the 3rd of December 2016, to capture his first world title to the shock of the boxing world in the devastating manner it was conducted in. Indongo was to then follow up his victory over Eduard Troyanovsky with a unification title clash with Ricky Burns, which took place on the 15th of April at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. In a highly anticipated bout in the UK, Indongo produced arguably his career-best performance with a deserved and comfortable unanimous decision over three weight world champion Burns.

In August of 2017 Indongo clashed with fellow unified world titleholder Terence Crawford in a unification bout, with the winner to become undisputed world title holder at 140lbs. Crawford would defeat Indongo to claim that honour becoming the first undisputed champion in any weight class since Jermain Taylor in 2005. Indongo succumbed to a third-round knockout against Crawford with the bout taking place in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Speaking via press release, Lou DiBella states that he is excited to work with Indongo believing he can secure the 34-year-old another world title opportunity:

“I’m very excited to start working with Julius, not only is he a former unified junior welterweight world champion but also a true road warrior, winning titles in both Russia and Scotland.”

“He’s very serious about becoming a world champion again, including moving his training camp to the US, and I look forward to working with him toward another world title opportunity.”

Julius meanwhile was grateful for the opportunity presented by DiBella Entertainment:

“I’m very happy for the opportunity to fight for DiBella Entertainment. I will make sure that I work hard in order to open doors for my fellow Namibians. It’s an unexpected dream that turned into reality. DiBella Entertainment, I’m thrilled to continue my career and achieve my goals with your promotional push.”

Julius will be based in the state of Nebraska, USA according to DiBella, with a date for Indongo’s return to action yet to be confirmed at time of publication.
