Joseph Parker to face Alexander Dimitrenko October 1
Jospeh Parker and Duco Events have announced their next move in the progression of joseph parker’s career with the selection of Alexander Dimitrenko as their next opponent. The fight will take at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, the scene of where parker defeated Carlos Takam to secure his mandatory position within the IBF in May of this year.
Dimitrenko is a guy who former world champion Shannon Briggs went out of his way to avoid earlier this year because of the risk,” Duco Events promoter Dean Lonergan said. “Even casual boxing fans know that all Eastern Europeans in the heavyweight division know how to fight.”
Eddie Hearn has also spoken to sky sports and was quoted “We like the Joseph Parker fight, that’s the mandatory, and we’ll have to deal with that at some point. Whether that’s November, December or whether that’s March, April that’s a good fight.”
However from first glances at the reports and quotes from the parker camp, depite being mandatory for Anthony Joshua they are in no rush to jump at the chance of enforcing the mandatory. They look to be taking their time until their charge is ready and to be competitive.
Dimitrenko is a good step up in quality and can actually upset the odds and defeat the Kiwi sensation and monumentally disrupt the New Zealand boxing circles with defeating their king pin Parker.
