Jake Ball has successfully defeated Miles Shinkwin via unanimous decision to claim the vacant WBA continental light-heavyweight title in impressive fashion. Ball looked confident and relaxed in his outing against the former Southern area title holder Shinkwin, with the fight taking place at York Hall, London.
Ball who suffered a shock knockout defeat four fights ago to JJ McDonagh arguably produced the most impressive outing so far of his career. Ball boxed to strengths against Shinkwin, using his reach and height efficiently to negate the tactics of Shinkwin. Shinkwin was always looking to close the range, was caught regularly as he came on the inside via straights and uppercuts from Ball.
The contest was scheduled for ten rounds which were all completed resulting in the judged scorecards being required. The scorecards were read as the following: 98-92 x2 and 97-93 all in favour of Ball.
