This weekend at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S – May 21st 2016 the Premier Boxing Champions stage a huge night of boxing in the light middleweight division with four of the top fighters competing for two of the world championships in the division.
In the headline bout we have the rematch between WBA 154 pound champion Erislandy Lara from Cuba rematching Vanes Martirosyan, the pair first fought back in November 2012 resulting in a technical draw after a clash of heads resulted in a bad gash over Martirosyan’s left eye who is out for revenge against Lara in the fight this weekend. For Lara many believe he has the beating of every other champion and contender at the weight, beating the likes of Austin Trout & Ishe Smith in recent years, there are many big fights to come with the world title also in his possession.
In the co-feature we have IBF champion Jermall Charlo defending his championship against Austin Trout. This is the second time Charlo will defend his title after making a first successful against Wilkfy Campfort in November 2015. For Austin Trout it’s his first major fight at top level since suffering a one sided loss to Erislandy Lara in December 2013, he has won four straight comeback wins all coming by knockout and is now on the verge of reclaiming one of the top spots in the division with a win which will lead to potential bigger money fights for him going forward, he has been very vocal about wanting a rematch with Saul Alvarez who beat Trout in a close 12 round decision back in April 2013.
The undefeated Jermell Charlo will be facing John Jackson for the vacant WBC 154 pound strap on the card also.
A big night of action with all the top stars from one division fighting and starting a journey to claim the number spot and throne in the light middleweight division live on Premier Boxing Champions Saturday night.
