One key question will be which nation does Artur represent considering he can represent Russia or Canada due to residency eligibility.
The timing of this announcement from the Beterbiev team is interesting. Considering he was successful this past weekend securing an 4th round victory.
The move comes from last weeks decision from AIBA to allow professional boxers to attempt to qualify for this years games . The Qualifying event for professional fighters to compete in takes place in July in Venezuela. Although the move by AIBA has been widely condemned by the professional organisations and key figures in the sport, several fighters have stated intent to participate in the event.
